Vedic Mindfulness
Modern mindfulness is widely presented as having Buddhist origins, but has its Vedic inheritance been overlooked in the process? This talk explores the contributions of the Upaniṣads, Advaita Vedānta, and Yoga to the development of contemporary mindfulness, and considers what may be lost when a liberative tradition is reframed primarily as a tool for stress reduction. It also introduces the distinctive pedagogical framework of Vedic mindfulness, demonstrating how its systematic approach can deepen and simplify application in therapeutic contexts.
